This year's BC Natural Resource Forum in Prince George has the added bonus of an opportunity to meet with a mineral financing company. The forum focuses on a broad range of natural resources in the north, from mining to forestry to energy. This year Royal Gold, the company that did the financing for Mount Milligan, is available for a break-out session with any company that wants information on innovative financing ideas for a project. The breakout session at the Forum will be on January 22, 2014 at 10:00 am.

Financing Mine Development and Construction
(Length:  approx. 60 minutes)
Tony Jensen

Large, modern mining projects can be very capital intensive. Operators often seek multiple sources of financing in order to place a mine into production. Royalty and stream financing has emerged as an important source of funding over the last decade. Mr. Jensen’s talk will provide an overview of royalty and stream financing,  a comparison with equity and debt facilities, and an in-depth discussion of a stream financing transaction, employed by Royal Gold,  to allow Thompson Creek Metals to complete construction of the Mt. Milligan copper-gold mine in northern British Columbia.
