SEG March 2016 Enews Update

Smithers Exploration Group welcomes a new Board of Directors with some old hands and some new faces to work with returning President Rob Maurer. Rob presented grant administrator Judi L’Orsa (pictured above) with some tokens of appreciation for her years administering SEG’s training camp. With Rock Talk 2016 successfully behind us, it’s time to look forward to a couple of events: next SEG Rocks ‘n Rambling on April 1 in Smithers and then Kamloops Exploration Group’s annual KEG conference April 12 and 13 in Kamloops.  You get a month’s rest and then it’s up to Smithers and Telkwa for Minerals North 2016 on May 18-20.

Rock Talk 2016 Geology at its best

Rock Talk 2016 surpassed all expectations in terms of content and interest. The format of workshops focussed on reviewing core and maps and sharing information related northwest BC’s important geological terrane was a huge hit. Thanks for Regional Geologist Jeff Kyba for putting it together and to the rest of the Rock Talk committee for trying something different.

The Smithers Exploration Group annual general meeting was held on February 17 in Smithers. Rob Maurer will return for his final year as president.

After nearly 12 years administering Smithers Exploration Group’s connection to the NWCC School of Exploration and Mining, Judi L’Orsa was recognized by SEG for her strong contribution to the success of the school. As well as administering grants and the camp with its equipment, Judi provided hours of unpaid office administration for SEG. Most recently she oversaw the divestment of the camp equipment and the successful auction of the gear. Judi has assured the incoming SEG board that she’s not stepping away from her volunteer work with SEG.  Thanks Judi.

The minutes are posted here. Financial statements for 2016 are available on request.
