ARE YOU READY FOR MINERALS NORTH 2016?

Minerals North 2016, co-hosted by Smithers and Telkwa May 18-20, is a little more than two weeks away and the organizing committee wants to let everyone in on some of the details with more information available at http://mineralsnorth.ca/conference/programming/

  • Pre-conference events allow you to choose between a field trip to Telkwa and Goathorn Creek, two different events with Raven Rescue, a golf Tournament with Northwest Community College or fire side chats at AMEBC’s Gathering Place.
  • The opening reception will be in Bovill Square on Smithers Main Street.
  • The program itself will feature the regular regional geology updates and presentations about new exploration and new mines.  It will also offer lively and topical discussions around innovations in exploration and mining, community sustainability in the north, workforce development and working in a post-Tsilqot’in industry.
  • On Thursday at lunch, our keynote speaker is none other than marketing expert and broadcast producer Terry O'Reilly!
  • Thursday evening we’ll be entertained by renowned Cuban-Canadian recording artist Alex Cuba perform. Alex lives in Smithers and tours extensively across North America and around the world.

Make plans to stay for the whole conference for both the educational programing AND the great prizes.  With a grand prize sponsored by Central Mountain Air, all delegates are eligible to win a four pack of flights across the CMA/Hawkair/NT Air Network.  Second prize is a set of golf clubs sponsored by Wainbee and third prize is a gift basket from Barkerville.   Draws will be done at the closing lunch on Friday, but you must be there to win!

Minerals Rock during Minerals North

SEG is excited to bring its Outreach program to Minerals North 2016 in Smithers/Telkwa through Minerals Rock on May 19 and 20. Through our Outreach program we talk with groups and classes about the importance of exploration and mining to community sustainability.

In May we're expanding that invitaton to everyone through our venue at Minerals North 2016. We're taking over the Smithers Curling Rink with Minerals Rock - it's a fun interactive display on Thursday May 19 from 12 to 5 pm and Friday May 20  from 9 to 12. Check out the poster for more details.

SEG's Outreach work is funded in part through a grant from the Association for Mineral Exploration BC with the focus of increasing awareness of the contribution of the mineral exploration sector to the economic health of BC and Canada.
