Minerals North Conference

Minerals North 2026 in Smithers will feature a terrific program May 6 to 8 and will welcome everyone by showcasing the community’s importance to the minerals industry.

Smithers Exploration Group’s education project at Minerals North will connect students in area schools with the mineral industry.  Minerals Rock is a great opportunity to engage and excite students about exploration and mining and the importance of minerals in our daily lives.
BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THAT CONNECTION HAPPEN.
We currently have over 500 students registered.  They will arrive at the Smithers Curling Rink in cohorts of 90 students over May 6 - 8. They will rotate through a series of interactive stations in groups of 10 students. It will take 90 minutes to make their way through the various stations.

Examples of stations include:

We are looking for volunteers. Some of the technical stations will need geologists, prospectors, biologists or engineers to make the most of the student experience. Some of the stations are less technical.

You can sign up via Google Docs by following the link to a sign-up sheet. We need your name, email address and phone number. We ask you to commit to two-hour blocks – as many as you can manage. You can choose where you can make the best contribution, so think it over and help connect with tomorrow’s workforce.

Please share this information with anybody you know that would be interested.  Any questions, please contact Georgia Mack SEG Outreach Coordinator .
