Rock Talk 2020 is just over a week away…Join Smithers Exploration Group in Smithers to talk rocks at Rock Talk February 19 and 20.

Rocks at Noon….If you are missing the field and would like to look at some rocks, bring your lunch to the Rock Room at 101-3423 Fulton Avenue in Smithers tomorrow Tuesday February 11 between 1:30-1:15pm. Browse the rock trays to your hearts content. We’ll have the coffee on.
Rock Talk 2020 is on February 19 and 20 in Smithers: Day 1 is all about the rocks with the BCGS MapPlace 2; a workshop on the evolution of the Huckleberry Mine and new tectonomagmatic structural insights of the Skeena Arch. Day 2 brings together project updates from northern BC. And backing it all up – SEG’s collection of Cordilleran rock suites which the geos above are examining at last year's Rock Talk. Rock Talk 2020, February 19 and 20, Smithers, Smithers Curling Club, 4216 4th Ave

Now for the Main Event…..Rock Talk 2020 is only a little over a week away on February 19 and 20 in Smithers. SEG’s collection of Cordilleran rock suites will be front and centre on Wednesday with two educational sessions featuring the rocks of northern BC. Project updates will fill Thursday and, if people are interested, skiing on Hudson Bay Mountain caps it all off on Friday. A lot of sponsors have stepped forward this year, so hats off to them. Program Snapshot:

Wednesday February 19: Technical Introduction to MapPlace2 (SEE *HOUSEKEEPING SECTION BELOW); Workshop - the evolution of the Huckleberry mine; and Rocks of Central BC through SEG Rock Collection. This wraps up with a wine and cheese reception at the curling rink.
Thursday February 20: Technical presentations gearing up from grassroots exploration throughout the Golden Triangle and transitioning into advanced-stage projects in the region and finishing with the producing Brucejack and Red Chris mines. We'll celebrate another successful Rock Talk with a mixer where you can join local sponsors for some local brew.
Friday February 21: You're invited to stay for an informal ski day on Friday at the Hudson Bay Mountain!

The full program for Rock Talk 2020 promises to be jam-packed with new concepts and new projects that stir the imagination and the advanced projects that have made northwest BC the buzz of the minerals industry.

Registration is $125 available through Eventbrite. Registration includes two days of technical seminars and presentations, coffee, snacks, lunch, Wednesday evening ice breaker reception and Thursday evening mixer. It's a bargain!

If you plan to participate in the MapPlace2 workshop, bring your laptop. SEG is arranging high speed internet access for the workshop only. Otherwise do not count on internet access at the rink.
Please be aware that Smithers no longer has taxi service. We are working to backfill the gap. If you need a pickup at the airport or from your hotel please email Steph at pnrexploration@gmail.com

Here’s something new from Smithers Exploration Group and the Smithers District Chamber of Commerce. We’re going to open up the SEG Rock Room to the Smithers chamber members. It’s a chance to introduce them to the SEG collection of Cordilleran Rock Suites. We’re proud of the Rock Room and this is a chance for the local business community to get a sense of the role SEG and Smithers play in growing the minerals industry in BC.
