BC Government RFP for Mineral Exploration Investment Fund, June 21The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources has issued a RFP to study the potential for a government-funded mineral exploration investment fund. This is an outcome from the Mining Jobs Taskforce that AME championed. You can find it on BC Bid by searching under the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources: https://www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca/open.dll/welcome Summary from BC Bid : “The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources is seeking a highly qualified Contractor to conduct research into the current state of the mineral exploration sector in British Columbia (BC), complete a global scan of fiscal strategies to incentivize investment in mineral exploration, and undertake a "deep-dive' into Government Capital Investment Programs such as publicly-backed mineral exploration focused investment funds and their applicability to BC.
“This will include a detailed look into the fiscal structure of the sector and the implications this structure has on mineral exploration financing within the province. A jurisdictional scan and summary of fiscal incentive tools targeting early-stage mineral exploration projects will also be undertaken including tax credits, flow-through share agreements and other tax measures. A detailed review of private- and/or public-sector managed investment funds is required to improve government's understanding of this tool, analyse its applicability to BC and gather the necessary data to undertake an "apples to apples" comparison to more traditional fiscal levers available to government in relation to the mineral exploration sector.” SEG Fall BBQ, Friday September 13SEG’s new celebration of the current field season is a fall barbeque at the Rock Room at the SEG office. Last year was a lot of fun, so we decided to make this an annual event. Join us at 5 pm on Friday September 13 for some hot dogs and hamburgers with the usual trimmings.
